Runner’s Amazon Gift Guide- Gear
Running , the free sport right? Sigh, If only that were true. Christmas is right around the corner and I have 12 awesome options for you to get your favorite runner (or for yourself) before Christmas. Everything is available and in stock on amazon. All of the products have been tested and approved of by yours truly. You can even get your Christmas shopping done while you do your post run stretch. . . we all know runners always stretch after a run (wink, wink)
Petzl Swift Rechargeable Headlamp ($83) We love this headlamp so much in our house that we have 3 of them. If they can handle a technical middle of the night trail run, they can handle anything. Great for both road runners and trail runners. They are also comfortable. There are lighter ones on the market but they don’t work nearly as well.
Yaktrax Pro Traction Cleats ($33) for runners, walkers and hikers for snow and ice. These are traction cleats that fit directly over your shoes. You can use them for winter running on the roads if they are completely snow/ice covered but they don’t work well if it’s mostly asphalt. They also work great on snowy/icy trails. If you are looking for something more advanced with extra traction for snowy summits or more advanced winter trails, check out the next product. Yaktrax work great for most recreational runners and hikers
Kahtoola Microspikes ($75) These are easy to use, lightweight micro spikes (think of them right between backtracks and crampons). I use them for wintery mountain top summits or icy more technical trail runs and ridge lines. Whether you are on a trail run or hiking to the top of a snowy summit, these will help you feel more safe and secure. A must have you if you are out in the backcountry or on mountain ridges and summits during the winter and spring.
Ultimate Direction Handheld Fastdraw Waterbottle ($29)My go-to handheld. I have been using this for years and love it. Handheld’s aren’t everyones favorite but they sure come in handy and are a great way to carry water and fuel when you don’t want to carry a vest or want your water extra handy.
Tracer360 Runners Light Up Vest ($59) Waterproof, rechargeable, will keep you safe and visible Something every runner should have for early morning or late night road runs. Even at dusk or dawn, you want to be able to be seen.
Runner Pepper Gel Spray, Max Strength ($12) Affordable and easy to use. I believe every runner should have some form of protection available. I love that this one goes around your wrist and so it’s easy to use and access. My teenagers also have one- for when they are out fishing, in the outdoors or anywhere where this might come in handy. Make sure your teens are trained to use this if you opt to get them one.
Black Diamond Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles ($159) Every runner needs them, every mountain trekker needs them. Hands down the best and lightest on the market. Absolutely worth the splurge. They are pricey so this is a great Christmas or birthday gift. I love them so much that I have bought them twice (I may or may not have had a little Alpine accident with them but we will save that story for another day).
EASYRUN sunglasses ($27) Pit Viper are all the rage (and I have a few pairs and love them) but these beauties are a GREAT knock off. The price point is super reasonable, they have great reviews and hold up well. I bought a pair for my 14 year old athelte/fisherman son and they have held up super well. They are 33% off on amazon right now too, Grab them quick. Get a pair for the entire family or a few colors for yourself.
Medal and Bib Display ($39) Holds up to 24 medals and 100 race bibs, a beautiful way to display and protect your bibs and medals. I love that it’s a space saver too.
SPIBELT Runners Belt ($29) The OG runners belt for a reason. I love my Spibelt for short, medium and long distance road runs. I can fit my phone and run nutrition and then I usually pair it with a handheld water bottle and I am good to go. I even use it on trail runs when I don’t want to sport a running vest. Its lightweight, affordable and convenient.
Ponytail Headband Ear Warmer ($11). I wear these all winter. Super comfortable and affordable. Sometimes we don’t need the fancy Lulu. These really do the trick.
Smartwool Merino Beanie ($29) I have this in 2 colors, it keeps my head and eats warm even in the coolest of temps yet it’s lightweight and breathable. You can’t go wrong with 100% marino wool. I have this smartwool collection from head to toe and it’s a must-have for cold weather running, camping and mountain adventures (purchased the rest at REI).
